Sir Lancelot
, 3

BREAKING NEWS - Sir Lancelot, 3, with multiple jaw fractures and tongue lacerations, was brought into our rescue this
weekend and is having emergency surgery. We are in desperate need of foster homes for our pugs, and there is no foster home available to take Sir Lancelot following his surgery. Please open your hearts and foster - Sir Lancelot is a sweet, friendly little guy and he was the victim of a malicious beating. He needs a home filled with love and compassion to show him this world is a safe and loving place.

Angus looking for a forever home

Angus

Hi everyone! My name is Angus and I am quite the distinguished, gentle-pug. I am 8 years old and a very sturdy 27lbs. I was not well cared before I was rescued by this amazing group of DFW humans. Today, I feel SO much better and I have received the “green light” for finding my furever home! My foster family includes several male pugs and a giant lady boxer. We get along fine, but I haven’t really figured out how to play with them, so I mostly watch. I do love to grab the plush toys from the box and shake like crazy! The humans that care for me have learned that I know my basic commands: sit, stay, shake, and down. I am housetrained and I really enjoy my love therapy sessions – up in a lap and on my back for a belly rub! When we are watching the Rangers play baseball, I love to lie on the floor near the humans to let them know I am there. When it’s bedtime, I have my own crate that I nestle in for a good night’s sleep. I really enjoy the one-on-one attention, so if you are the ONE, please fill out an application and ask for Angus, the gentle-pug.

ItsyRoo - A Tiny Rescue Miracle

ItsyRoo, 4 months

My name is ItsyRoo and I have a story to tell you! I’m 4 months old, and I am a little teacup sized Pug with a sprinkling of Pomeranian mixed in. The Dallas Fort Worth Pug Rescue folks came to my rescue. My legs turn the wrong way, but I never let any challenge stand in my way, and you can see from my video that I can walk despite my handicap.

Dr. Radach at the surgical center said he has high hopes that he can help me walk again so the rescue folks are asking for donations to help pay for my surgeries and my rehabilitation. The doctors and rescue peeps said I am the most determined three pound baby they have ever seen, and if anyone can make a miracle happen, it can happen to me! Please open your heart and help me to get the surgeries and medical care I need. I want to walk again, because I have a very important journey ahead of me – to find a forever home where I will never be discarded or forgotten again. Please give at www.dfwpugs.com

Tweetie aka Firecracker - A Special Needs Rescue Girl

Photos by www.shaglyphotography.com

Hi I'm Tweetie, and I'm 3 years old. I'm a tiny girl with lots of zip and energy, even though I've been spending a lot of time at the rescue doctor's office. The doctor said that I have a disease that prevents my liver from growing properly. The rescue folks need $2000 to pay the specialists for my tests. Doctor said instead of me smiling for the camera, their machine will take pictures of my tummy and this is called nuclear scintigraphy. I said as long as I get a cookie afterward, they can take scintigraphs of my belly all day long!

I have been diagnosed with hepatic microvascular dysplasia, so I'll be on prescription diet and take a denamarin tablet every day to help me stay healthy and active. I'm just about ready to be checked out of this hospital, but I asked especially to stay a little longer because nurse promised me double portions of green bean jello if I am still here at lunch time. I love toys, running, and giving kisses, and I am a champion wiggler, too. I have so many talents to share, and I'm so thankful the rescue angels came to my aid so I have a long life ahead of me.

Everyone who meets me says they are glad they did! So hurry and get your adoption application in soon for me, Tweetie. I have quite the list of admirers already, including Uncle Mark the photographer. So far my nicknames are: Speedy, Firecracker, Pistol, and CuteyPie!

Please open your hearts and help us to pay for Tweetie's medical tests. This little girl deserves a long, happy and healthy life!

Laurel and Hardy

Introducing the world renowned team…Laurel and Hardy! My name is Laurel (black harness) and I am ½ of this bonded pair of pugs. I am a 5 year old female pug and my buddy, Hardy (red harness), is 5 year old male.

First, I’ll tell you a bit about myself. My foster mom says that I am super sweet and lovable. It’s true…I’m happiest just lounging around and being on the receiving end of massages. I am very well-behaved and listen to my foster mom. When I came to my foster home, I was a tad bit over-weight. My foster mom has me on a diet now and I’m really working hard at getting my girlish figure ready for bathing suit season. I really enjoy hanging out with my foster mom’s children and pugs. I’m crate trained and, in the morning, I like to make my foster mom laugh with this cute little puggie howl that I do. She loves it!

Now, on to my buddy, Hardy. He is a big boy, but not in a chubby way. He’s just a tall pug! He is well-mannered and listens to our foster mom, too. Hardy LOVES a good belly rub and, if you massage his ears just right, will fall right asleep. He enjoys hanging out with the kids, other pugs, and people, too. When he needs to go outside, he has the sweetest little muffled bark that really makes foster mom smile. For fun, we both like to play fetch and go for car rides.

We are looking for a forever home that we can go to together. Might that be with you? If so, just mention Laurel and Hardy on your application today!

Adopt One of Our Senior Pugs - Meet Dirk

Our senior pugs are always a little harder to place into a new home. Senior pugs may need just a bit more TLC but they have a lot to offer and we have a lot of great senior pugs looking for new homes with loving families.

Meet Dirk - 9yrs male

Hi, my name is Dirk and I'm an older gentleman just looking for love. I'm a very sweet guy who likes to cuddle and play and my silly expressions and goofy noises will make you smile. I'm good around other dogs and I've got excellent potty training manners. I'm smart, like to learn and my foster mom is teaching me that strangers aren't bad - I'm learning fast.

I appreciate calm and get a little nervous when there's too much going on at once but my foster mom is helping me with that. But I'll have to learn that with my new family too. I'm not too crazy about kids and I would really like to settle in with a quiet household who is willing to help me continue learning that strangers and new situations aren't that big of a deal.

I've got lots of love to give and my sweet ways will win you over!

To see more of the pugs that we have available for adoption visit : http://dfwpugs.com/index.php/adopt/available-pugs/available-pugs

Come out and meet more of our senior pugs at the Senior Wine Gala on Saturday January 21st from 6-9pm.

Event will be at the Boarding Bungalow 4833 Frankford Rd

Paw Paw Kringle Gets His Wings

PawPaw Kringle

We have sad news to share. Paw Paw Kringle was dumped at a Dallas area shelter yesterday. Paw Paw was 13 years old. After our vets examined him, they found he could not stand up, had muscle and neurologic problems, a severe UTI, and was in a great deal of pain. The officers made the difficult decision to end his suffering.

PawPaw went to sleep today in the arms of our compassionate vet tech at the vet clinic, who said she made sure he knew how much he was loved and adored before they let him go. Go gently with the angels little Paw Paw.

Please do not buy your family a puppy for the holidays. Please do not forget these pugs when we get older and start to lose their sight and hearing. We deserve your love. Please support rescue so other pugs like PawPaw will have a chance. www.dfwpugs.com

Remember the Pugs This Holiday Season

Remember the Pugs this Holiday Season

Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, and best wishes from our family at DFW Pug Rescue to yours. With close to 100 pugs in our care, and 12 critically ill and hospice pugs in our foster homes and vet clinics, we ask you to open your hearts this holiday season. Our donations have been lower this month than ever before in our history. We have received less than 10 donations in the past two weeks.

Pugs like Ellie and her brothers and sisters would not have been saved, safe, and going to loving homes without your help. Please do not forget the rescue pugs this year. In these difficult times, they need your love and compassion more than ever. Every penny that is given goes to their medical bills and their care. Please open your heart and give your annual tax deductible gift to help a rescue pug. They deserve so much, and we think they are worth it!

Please remember the rescue pugs for your year-end tax deductible gift. DFW Pug Rescue, Inc., is a charity organization that is run by a totally unpaid volunteer workforce. Our vet bills will exceed $250,000 in 2011. Help us to keep our doors open to all Texas pugs in need.
